A letter from the president: yoori
Back when I first joined Kphi, I was just a sophomore desperately trying to find a community I could call home on campus. Searching during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic didn’t help, but it further fueled my desire to find a place I could connect with others. Amidst my search, I remembered an organization that my sister’s friend was in and thought, ‘Why not?’. One month later, I found myself as a Peep on a Zoom call surrounded by Chickadees, Chickadudes, and other Peeps who were as equally as excited to be there in each other’s presence.
It’s funny to think how my journey within this organization started out with such a simple recollection of someone else’s Instagram post. Fast forward to a year later, I find myself organizing formal as Spirit Chair. Another year later, I stand in front of the entire chapter as President.
Anyone who knows me knows how much love I have for this organization. It’s a small one, but overflowing with love, laughter, and passion for service. As I watch over the members during our weekly chapter meetings, service opportunities, and spirit events, I feel my heart swell so much with love to the point it aches. No words could convey how proud I am of the members and what they have accomplished. They embody what it means to be compassionate, dedicated, sincere, and respectful. Our members show a strong sense of social responsibility, driven to give back to the community and philanthropies they hold close to their hearts.
I am utterly so grateful that I found Chi Kappa Phi– it became my home. Not only did it enable me to serve and give back to the community I grew up in, but it also allowed me to gain so many new perspectives. We have future healthcare providers, lawyers, educators, creatives… and the list goes on. As we go on our own paths, one thing is for sure. The impact that we’ve had on each other and the community around us will last forever. The friendships and memories I have made during my time here are irreplaceable– I can’t imagine my life without them.
To my chickadees and peeps, thank you for making me feel at home, and thank you for joining this organization. It would not be the same without y’all. I cherish each and every one of you! All of y’all will forever be my Etas, my Thetas, my Iotas, my Kappas, and my baby Peeps. To any prospective members, please please come check us out! I promise you will not be disappointed by the community that you find. We would love to share our love for philanthropy and become your lifelong friends and family.
Per usual… I am rambling. But y’all get the gist :) so as always,
FLY <3
